“The chief beauty about time
is that you cannot waste it in advance.
The next year, the next day, the next hour are lying ready for you,
as perfect, as unspoiled,
as if you had never wasted or misapplied
a single moment in all your life.
You can turn over a new leaf every hour
if you choose.”
–Arnold Bennett

A recent Arts and Economic Prosperity Study conducted by Americans for the Arts has published key findings about the impact of the Reno art and culture sector, including:
- Arts and culture provided an $84.4 million economic boost, including 1,728 jobs generating $63.1 million in household income for residents and contributing $21.6 million in tax revenues to local, state, and federal governments, with $3 million directly benefitting the City of Reno.
- Arts and culture emerged as a driving force in local commerce, with attendees spending an average of $38.12 per person beyond the cost of admission. 13.4% of attendees were nonlocal visitors, injecting $54.62 on average into the local economy.
- A vibrant arts and culture community was found to keep residents engaged, with 44.8% stating they would have traveled elsewhere for a similar activity if the surveyed event were not available.
- Arts and culture organizations were shown to contribute significantly to the quality of life in Reno, as 88% of attendees agreed that the activity or venue inspired a sense of pride in the neighborhood or community.
- The study highlights the strength of arts and culture in attracting nonlocal visitors, with 81.7% stating that their primary purpose of visit was to attend a specific arts or cultural event.

Q. Will I net more money if I sell my home myself or should I hire a REALTOR® to do it?
A. It depends on your situation, time, and motivation. You can sell your home yourself by staging it, setting the right price, creating a marketing plan, and fulfilling all legal requirements. Or you may hire a “Home Marketing Expert,” who will charge a commission but help you with pricing, provide you exposure by marketing your property to other real estate agents, show your home and coordinate the closing process.
You might consider these facts:
- According to a recent report by the National Association of REALTORS®, sellers who sold their own homes sold at a median of $225,000, significantly less than the median sale price for a home sold with an agent, $345,000. About 10% of homes sold were sold without an agent.
- Sellers who sold their own homes sold more quickly because the homes were typically sold to someone the seller knew.
- The most difficult part for those who sold their own home was: setting the right price.
To learn more about how to sell your own home, call and ask for my Free Consumer Report called “7 Insider Tips To Net More Money Selling Your Own Home.” I’ll send a copy right to you. Please call Alan at 775-742- 2591 or Magda at 775-284-2615. Perhaps we’ll feature your question in our next issue!
